First two week progress Insanity Max 30

I’d taken a break for a few months from working out. The result were gaining weight ( 18 pounds)and feeling out of breath and without any energy. I had loved Insanity and after I completed my first round, I definitely was in the best shape of my life. I had a resolution to get back on track eating healthy and working out five days a week.

I started a new Beachbody Program by Shaun T. called Insanity Max 30.

image

Max 30 is DVD workout program which lasts for 60 days and each daily workout session is only 30 minutes long. It’s cardio based (high intensity interval training) and it’s intent is to help you burn fat, loose weight and gain lean toned body look.

You will be doing a series of cardio and strength exercises and push all the way to your maximum. The benefits of these kind of workouts is that you will burn the calories like never before.

image

It’s about using your body to get results. Just like the original INSANITY. No weights. No equipment, but the equipment is your body. Shaun T’s come up with 150 Brand new moves And every one includes a LOW-Impact modifier,to make sure you stay in the game until it’s your time to Max Out.

image

Maxing out is when you take your body where you can’t go any further, and Max 30 requires from you to push it all the way through it from start. It’s about going hard all the time until you quit. Max out training pushes you to your personal maximum so you improve your results each day.

Insanity Max:30 lasts for 60 days and it’s divided in 2 different month cycles. Month 1 workouts are:
*Cardio Challenge +AB Attack
*Sweat Intervals + Ab Attack
*Tabata Power
*Tabata Strength
*Friday FightRound 1
*Pulse – This one is optional as bonus for 6th day

As I go along journey I’II post month two as I go along. With Insanity Max:30 fitness DVDs you will also get a full nutrition guide. What makes this plan different to others is there is a portion control of how much food you should take for every meal.

My results for my first two weeks are pretty amazing. I feel full and never hungry  and I’ve lost 9 pounds and feel great. I’ve lost 6 inches as well. Can’t wait to see my full progress. Stay tuned…

All items on this blog post were purchased by myself. All opinions are my own and are 100% honest.

Autism and Surviving Christmas Break

image

We’re on Christmas break which means there’s no school. Maddie is on a routine schedule at school. During the Holidays or any break from school I’ve made up my own routine for her to adjust to having a routine at home.

Breakfast
*When Maddie’s wakes up, she does her usual morning routine ( brushing her teeth, change her clothes).
*I have her help me bring her breakfast to the table ( carry her plate, fork and cup).
When she has finished her breakfast, I have her help clean up her plate and fork. *While I finish cleaning up the rest, she is coloring at the table or looking through a picture book.

Morning Circle
*We review day and date on StarFall
and click on the calendar icon. We review other activities that Maddie’s enjoys as well, such as ” ABC’s Let’s Get Ready to Read” icon.
*We do movement songs. We access many on ” You Tube ” to (5 Little Monkeys, Happy and You Know It, Bingo, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Old MacDonald. ) I reinforce singing the songs, following directions in the songs, imitating hand movements, pause the songs to have her fill in the next verse.

Centers
*We choose a toy and I reinforce her for asking for the toy.
* At this time I get my other daughter Ally to join in and play with to work on sharing and turn taking, requesting from Ally. ( Interactive Play) I usually expose her to other words while playing such as ( items and the sound they make, adjectives)
*To work on ( Fine Motor ) ( puzzles,  stringing beads, tracing letters, name, numbers). We play with shaving cream or salt on a table.

image

Snack Time
I reinforce washing her hands and seating at her table. I pack up her snack so she can unzip and take out her snack. I have her clean up ( throwing garbage away, putting utensils in sink, washing her hands).

Gross Motor
I go to a near by park or our driveway and she rides her bike, work on ball playing ( throwing, catching, rolling ball) catching and popping bubbles.
*For Christmas we purchased a Scooter board to use in the house since it’s cold out. Its amazing and teaches her motor planning.

image

image

Lunch
At this time I usually let Maddie have a break watch a movie with movement since she loves sing-a-longs that she can move to.
*I make sure we work on washing her hands and helping with as much as possible ( bringing place mat to the table, getting her napkin, cup or utensils) .
*Cleaning up afterwards.

Walk
I usually take her for a walk to stretch her legs. We walk around the block.

Afternoon social
I have Maddie and Ally usually work on a craft together with some art supplies I usually have at home. I find simple craft ideas on Pinterest.
*Ally usually would assist with some activities on our mat. Where we work on her receptive and expressive identification of objects, pictures, numbers.
*When reading a book we stop on each page to ask her a question or to label a picture, saying repetitive phrases in the book.
*If therapy toys are left out I encourage Maddie to pick them up and put them away.

Having our days filled with routines and Maddie have a Visual Picture exchange communication system helps our her adjust to not being in school.

Thank you for stopping by and reading about journey. On behalf of my family wishing you A Happy New Year!

Depression Of A Housewife

I had a personal connection to depression. Back in 2011 with a fresh diagnosis of Autism Spectrum disorder for our youngest, questions from our children, having hope, days filled with meltdowns, and therapies. I reached overwhelming point’s that were life challenging.

image

Depression take a toll of my emotions, had me question my religious beliefs. I wasn’t sure, what to do?  It’s normal and finding a treatment that would help you resurface is extremely important. The only treatment that helped me was exercise. If you’re feeling depressed, I urge to seek help and diagnose you’re type of depression and finding a treatment that will work for you. I found a great screening tool .http://www.whatsmym3.com/default.aspx Look it up and help yourself. Often, many people fear being put on medication, or feel embarrassed to accept there’s a problem and that there’s no reason to suffer alone or in silence.

image

Finding a method truly helped me to embrace life and all its joy with my family by my side and I learned to accept Autism . I pushed my body to the limit with Interval training , taking out my frustrations on my workouts. I’m not embarrassed to say I had depression. I’m glad to say “Pure Insane Exercise Saved me. ” Now it’s a passion, a rewarding lifestyle. Filled with healthy eating habits. I feel happy and energetic. Life is way too short to spend it in agony. I realized that I needed to make an attitude adjustment. I  view it as motivation. It wasn’t a  step back just a lesson learned.

image

My little family pushed me, motivated and applaud me every step of the way . A good support system lead me to feel confidence, and the need to motivate you to do the same. Now I could embrace all the joys of motherhood and never feel ashamed to admit depression set in. I dedicated myself to change that by being a bad ass everyday!

Hope for Maddie

On March 29, 2011 my youngest daughter was diagnosed with autism. I remember seating in my car in a daze. Maddie was seating in her car seat looking out the window in a daze herself. I died in that moment. I kept thinking was it something I did wrong, was this a cause from a vaccination? Will Maddie and my oldest daughter ever be best of friends? Will Maddie ever speak? What happens now? Maddie has autism but autism will never have Maddie. I knew the hard part was not over.

image

Immediately Early Intervention services started. I had to learn how to teach Maddie with Applied behavior analysis (ABA). Behavior analysis focuses on the principles that explain how learning takes place. Positive reinforcement is one major principle. When a behavior is followed by some sort of reward, the behavior is more likely to be repeated.  We took matters in our hands and looked into a proper diet. I didn’t take it one day at a time. We started cold turkey!

Within weeks of starting the  gluten and dairy diet, Maddie made a huge difference. Transitioning from early intervention to a ABA preschool setting helped Maddie a lot more. From making the sign to “open and eat” our little girl started saying words, feeding herself, and achieving the goals we set up for her.  I didn’t allow myself to grieve after her diagnoses. I cried but didn’t let it set in. I needed to help Maddie. I felt guilt, anger and a lot of resentment.

image

The day of Maddie’s diagnosis I had to stop driving and pull over. I felt this heaviness in my chest. I climbed over to the back seat and I cried so hard holding her little hand. Maddie kept looking out the window. I promised Maddie no more tears, its time to bring you back to me. I will never give up. I believe in miracles and will open a door when I hit dead ends. I climbed back to the driver seat and put on my battle gear and will go to war. I had a long journey ahead of me and will have a outcome. All I knew was love needed no words. Our journey had the best tour guide.

Sahara Sam’s Recap S.E.A.S

Disclaimer: I  was invited to this event as Media. I  wasn’t monetarily compensated, however I did receive a free gift for attending. The opinions portrayed in this post are 100% honest and all mine.

On Friday evening I packed up my family and drove to West Berlin, NJ. The kids were excited and constantly asking are ” We there yet”? We went to Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor & Outdoor Water Park. They had a Special Nights for Special Needs. A special evening which is judgment free and fun.

image

Sahara Sam’s provide comfortable evenings with anyone with special needs to enjoy with their family and friends at a reduced rate. They feature the following opportunities to network with families and make new friends. A relaxed dress code so you could feel more comfortable. Options to bring your own snacks for those special dietary needs or dine in their full service cafe. Arcade games are turned off. Modified lighting and sound through out the park. Quiet rooms are available should the fun become too overwhelming.

image

My family had an amazing evening. It felt great to network and have a judgment free environment to create family memories. Most importantly it felt great to see my oldest kids engage and help other kids with unique challenges. Our youngest daughter had a great time. Its difficult for us to plan a family outing that could help Maddie have fun and  designed to provide a safe and happy experience.

Thank you Sahara Sam’s for having us as guest for a wonderful evening. Thank you for the wonderful treatment and family fun. We can’t wait for the next S.E.A.S evening.

Beats by Dr.Dre Monster In ear Headphones (NomoreRack)

Being a mother to a teenager isn’t easy! Especially around the Holidays. I have to let go of the image of my little boy playing with his Thomas the Train set and accept reality. My baby isn’t a baby anymore! My son requested Beats. I agreed looked up what beats were! You want Headphones? Are you sure? How much are these headphones?Over a hundred dollars! Yikes! I almost suggested let’s go to Five below and you could pick up all types of  headphones. Obviously ,I didn’t suggest that and I started to look for a bargain.

image

Score! I purchased Beats for only $39 which is 70% savings on NoMoreRack. Beats by Dr. Dre In-Ear Headphones are equal parts style and audio substance. The driver design will pump out deep bass, soaring highs, and crystal-clear mid-range audio, delivering big sound out. Which means my son will never hear me calling him again. Haha Lets see! These puppies have an inline remote and mic clip, which allows you to skip forwards and backwards through your track list, as well as pause and resume playback and, of course, take calls hands-free without the need to draw your smart phone from its location. Fancy!

Plus they have an inline remote and mic clip that allows you to change songs and take calls without reaching for your smart phone! They come with replacement ear buds and carrying pouch, and are available in black and white! Note: There is a $5 off $30 coupon that will make these headphones $34! Enter coupon code(COUPON5OFF) at checkout!

I guess our generation of headphones are beyond out dated! Nothing makes me happier than finding bargains. #NoMoreRack is an amazing website loaded with deals. They have everything you love for less. Check them out! I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning.
